Failure’s Not Deadly

by: Paulina

What’s the problem? We only want more,
We just walk and follow blindly,
Society is reproducing faster than before,
And we no longer behave kindly.
But where do you go if you don’t fail?
If the motor in the car does not start,
If hours are wasted on ships that would never sail,
Then failure is a virtue; it plays a part.
Don’t leave a wave that hasn’t yet turned,
It may just be what you’re looking for,
Don’t ignore letters that haven’t yet been burned,
Failing once does not mean failing more.
I will never catch the first stone,
I will never make the first mark,
But at least my failures have a different tone,
In which even the smallest step to the sea
Is like the glory of spark.
Some trains will never begin,
Some rivers will never be still,
I know that I was not designed to win,
The sad reality left me on my own low hill.
But if failure interferes with what you strive,
Then how do I manage to survive?
